Increasing transmission line reliability through diagnostic robotic inspection

Automated robots and drones that can inspect overhead lines while they remain in service are playing an ever-growing role in improving the reliability of transmission lines. Designing such robots has to account for tight size and weight constraints, as well as the limits of the available power supply. For drone-based inspection, the goal is to develop fully automated route planning and image processing.
