ACTIVITIES
Continuing Education
Our group provides training within the continuing education framework of the Engineering Further Training Institute, as well as specialized instruction for professionals from external clients, among others in the following topics: The teaching of the knowledge required for Live-Line Working (FAM) takes place in our laboratory within the Dr. Béla Csikós Training Center. The essence of live-line working is that, in many cases, the inspection, maintenance and installation of equipment found in the network is possible without switching off, even during continuous operation, through the application of the appropriate technologies. This ensures uninterrupted service, consumers receive continuous supply, and switching operations do not unnecessarily burden the network. Furthermore, the losses associated with supply interruptions can also be eliminated. The high-voltage and medium-voltage training track located in the High Voltage Laboratory provides an opportunity to gain a comprehensive understanding of live-line working and to thoroughly practice work processes carried out under voltage. The Laboratory holds all the authorizations and licenses required, from low-voltage FAM all the way to high-voltage live-line working. Alongside teaching, the Training Center also carries out research related to FAM. The training center is actively involved in analyzing and further developing internationally accepted and applied FAM working methods. It also examines the tools and equipment used during work processes and participates in their continuous development and refinement. Just as one can speak of a "Budapest school" in the case of lightning protection or insulation technology, an independently developed Hungarian approach became a significant player in the field of live-line working very early on as well. The foundations of Live-Line Working in Hungary were laid by Dr. Béla Csikós. FAM technology was first used in Hungary in 1967, with the help of a special garment woven with conductive threads developed at the time, and other domestically developed equipment. With this, Hungary was among the first in the world to begin applying the practice of high-voltage live-line working (NAF-FAM), which soon became accepted and widespread worldwide as well. The development of FAM tools and technologies has continued in Hungary ever since.Professional development courses
